The highest megapixels featured on a phone was around 64 MP before Samsung came in and blew our minds with its new ISOCELL Bright HMX, which is going to feature 108 megapixels. ISOCELL Bright HMX is highlighted as a first in the industry and in the world.
Resolutions the announced mobile image sensor offer are equivalent to that of a high-end DSLR camera. Making ISOCELL Bright HMX the only mobile image sensor over the 100 MP limit.
For filming, the HMX supports video recordings without any screen glitches and losses. All the while in resolutions around 6K (6016 x 3384) and 30-frames-per-second.
The Tetracell technology that HMX features is pixel merging, therefore the sensor works better while absorbing more light in low-lit environments and imitating big pixel sensors resulting in bright and clear photographs of 27 MP.
In the darker settings, HMX’s ISO feature kicks in in order to reduce noise and capture a clearer image. When under bright lights, the Smart-ISO mechanism that helps to clear out the image for the perfect photograph, switches to low ISO in order to produce the right pixel saturation and more rich photographs.
Even in extreme lights, the ISOCELL Bright HMX is designed to capture photographs as sharp and clear as possible with pixels over 100 million.
The sensor which is around the size of 1/1.33 inches is expected to be featured in a Xiaomi phone first.
